Australian Environmental Activator

Shane first encountered biodynamic agriculture when he was a young-gun, and like a lot of people who get introduced to Rudolf Steiner and biodynamics, put it on the backburner. After a number of years (27 years to be precise) , & while on the property at Dukes Plain, Theodore, Shane was of the opinion there had to be a better way to run a farm, make it profitable and at the same time move away from the then current mantra of farms needing fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, bactericides and antibiotics. All of them harmful to humans, & the environment. (Contrary to the advice of chemical companies and Big Pharma.)
At this stage, around 2001, Shane swung back to Biodynamics as the way to move forward. Not only did he change how the farm was run, but over time developed his own complete Biodynamic preparation, which he has christened Australian Environmental Activator.
The majority of people who get involved with Biodynamics, rigidly believe that Rudolf Steiner’s information is sacrosanct and should be followed to the letter. Though the agriculture notes that he wrote state that all of his documentation is a guide and that it should be experimented with and that different ingredients should be trialed to suit the location you are in.
Shane has taken those words and improved the recipe for Biodynamics Compost additives to suit Australian conditions. The additives, that all align with Steiner’s guidelines have helped create six uniquely Australian compost activators.
Shane reckons good old Rudolph Steiner is smiling down on him, saying “good on you mate!” Translate that into Austrian German if you will!
This one day workshop on JANUARY 13TH, 2024 , promises to be a composting workshop with a difference.
The workshop will embrace some of the logistics of broad acre “composting”, addressing issues like freight costs, spreading costs, long, & short term effectiveness, compost feed stock availability, & etc.
We will also look at small scale composting for the home gardener, using locally available materials.
