Pigs without a wooden leg

Let me Tell You About that Pig

The new local agronomist was travelling through the Banana Shire in outback Queensland. He does a double take as he passes a farm and sees a pig walking in the yard. And the pig has a wooden leg.

This piques his curiosity, so he goes to the house and knocks on the door. The farmer answers.

“What’s the story with the pig with the wooden leg?” asks the agronomist.

“Let me tell you about that pig,” says the farmer. “That is no ordinary pig.”

“One night about six months ago my house caught on fire. That pig busted out of the barnyard, broke into the house, nudged me awake, and led me through the smoke to safety. That pig saved my life!”

“That really is some pig,” the salesman agrees. “But tell me, why does he have a wooden leg?”

“Well,” says the farmer, “you can’t eat a pig like that all at once.”

You can’t absorb Biodynamics in one Sitting.

Biodynamics is a way to remove all your chemical inputs on the farm. And I mean all of them from the veterinary bill to the nitrogen required. At the same time you will improve the land and your health.

I know, it sounds unbelievable. And I understand that sentiment. Problem is, I have been working with Biodynamics for 25 years and seen the improvement in my farms and watched the bank balance go up over the years as I got better and better using it and making E9 soil activator.

Yes you read the above statement correctly. You can make your own when you learn how to do it.

I also know that the best way to find out for yourself is to do it repeatedly and recently. Start with a 20 hectare area and see what happens when you apply E9 soil activator in comparison to the paddock next door. Keep a record of how much it costs for you to look after the 20hectares in comparison to you usual costs.

You need to learn about E9 and Biodynamics

That’s right, back to school and see what is available to make your life easier and more productive with a better bank balance.

This week’s surprise is azotobacter

Biodynamic compost and Azotobacter can be used together to improve plant growth and yield. Azotobacter is a nitrogen-fixing bacteria that can be used as a biofertilizer to improve soil fertility. Biodynamic preparations are used in farming and gardening to help plants maintain their natural form and protect them from disease.

Explanation

  • Azotobacter
    • A free-living bacteria that converts atmospheric nitrogen into a form that plants can use
    • Produces substances that promote plant growth, such as vitamins, hormones, and enzymes
    • Can help protect plants from disease by releasing antibiotics
    • Can improve soil structure and promote beneficial microorganisms
    • Can be used as a biofertilizer for non-leguminous crops like wheat, paddy, cotton, and tomatoes
  • Biodynamic preparations
    • Used in farming and gardening to help plants maintain their natural form and protect them from disease
    • Can be made from materials like oak bark, which can help pull earthly forces back into the soil
    • Can be used to protect plants from stress, such as during times of drought or high salinity

Using biodynamic compost and Azotobacter together can be a promising strategy for improving plant growth and productivity in areas with high soil salinity.

A couple of Links to Azotobacter

Azotobacter seemed like a good place to start with Biodynamics. Starting with the first letter of the alphabet always gets me going.

The internet is a boost to Biodynamics because there are so many references to information that years ago was regarded as woo woo science. Investing a little time in learning will reward you handsomely.

Talking of woo woo science, I have been listening to The Dark Side of the Moon as I write this blog post. The lunatic is in my head. We live in the best times of life on Earth.

That’s all for now…

Cheers… Shane
